Overview

Nortal is a global technology consulting company that blends strategic vision with technological innovation to deliver complex, mission-critical digital transformations for leading enterprises and governments worldwide. Guided by the belief that work should be meaningful, challenging, and value-driven, we empower our teams to co-create impactful solutions that shape a better future.

Nortal’s Applied Defence R&D serves as an innovation engine, transforming complex defence challenges into validated, deployable solutions. By combining cyber resilience, AI, data science, embedded security, and digital engineering, we deliver mission-ready prototypes and architectures. Partnering with governments, armed forces, industry, and academia, we create sovereign IP, dual-use technologies, and NATO/EU-aligned innovations that reduce risk and accelerate capability delivery.

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead Nortal’s contributions to the Integrated Modular Unmanned Ground System 2 (iMUGS2) program – one of Europe’s flagship defence R&D initiatives. Building on the achievements of the original iMUGS project, iMUGS2 develops modular, autonomous, and combat-ready unmanned ground systems, integrated into multi-domain operations and validated by military end-users.

As Project Manager, you will coordinate delivery across a large multinational consortium, manage Nortal’s work packages, and act as the key bridge between technical teams, defence stakeholders, and program partners. You will ensure results are delivered on time, risks are effectively managed, and outcomes remain aligned with EU/NATO capability development priorities. If you are a proven project leader ready to make a strong impact, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Nortal’s project delivery within iMUGS2, managing scope, resources, and schedules across technical work packages.

  • Serve as the primary interface with the project coordinator, consortium partners, defence ministry, and operational end-users.

  • Oversee project reporting, compliance, and quality assurance in accordance with EDF program requirements.

  • Support technical teams in translating research into deployable capabilities, focusing on autonomy, interoperability, and cybersecurity.

  • Manage risks and dependencies to ensure timely delivery of results and alignment with operational validation milestones.

  • Represent Nortal in consortium boards, working groups, and stakeholder engagements.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in scope, risk, and schedule management.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across government, industry, and research institutions.

  • Solid understanding of delivery processes and their appropriate application.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the foresight to anticipate and mitigate risks.

  • Experience coordinating multinational, multi-disciplinary teams in complex, consortium-based environments.

  • Strong organisational, communication, and reporting skills in an international context.

  • Proven leadership skills, including team motivation and conflict management.

  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., JIRA Atlassian, Trello, MS Project, or similar).

  • Familiarity with modern productivity or AI-powered project tools (e.g., ChatGPT, CoPilot) to support decision-making and documentation.

  • EU citizenship is required for this position

Bonus Points (Nice-to-Have)

  • Basic knowledge of scripting or programming (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation or data analysis.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field (Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or related).

  • Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2, or equivalent).

  • ITIL certification.

  • Proven track record in managing large-scale IT/R&D projects, ideally in defence or dual-use technologies.

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, autonomous systems, C2 integration, and/or digital engineering.
