Overview

We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to play the key role in one of our interesting long-term customer accounts in the automotive domain. You will be working in an international setup with an experienced team and professional stakeholders. You’ll also partner with our business leaders to further grow and develop this customer collaboration.

As a Solution (Value) Architect at Nortal, you act as a key interface between business stakeholders and technical delivery team. You are responsible for translating business goals, requirements, and constraints into clear, scalable technical architectures, ensuring that solutions deliver measurable business value while remaining robust, secure, and maintainable.

In this role, you provide architectural leadership across complex, integration-heavy systems and lead an international team of software developers and software architects. AWS is the primary cloud platform the architect works with in customer engagements. However, the role operates in a broader cloud landscape, and other platforms, such as Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), may also be used depending on the customer context.

The role focuses on architectural leadership and technical decision-making rather than day-to-day coding. However, a strong understanding of application and infrastructure code is essential in order to guide teams effectively, challenge designs where needed, and ensure solutions are practical and feasible.

Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Act as the primary technical interface between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams
  • Translate business requirements and priorities into clear, scalable solution architectures
  • Lead and coordinate international team of Nortal software developers and software architects
  • Own and evolve the architectural direction across multiple Nortal and non-Nortal teams and system components
  • Design end-to-end cloud-native solutions, primarily on AWS
  • Apply cloud architecture best practices in customer environments that include other cloud platforms when required
  • Define and govern integration patterns using APIs, event-driven messaging, and asynchronous communication
  • Guide and review technical designs and implementation approaches without necessarily writing production code
  • Identify, manage, and communicate technical risks, dependencies, and architectural trade-offs
  • Support planning, estimation, and prioritization from a technical perspective
  • Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements such as security, scalability, resilience, and operability
  • Contribute to architectural documentation, standards, and governance across projects

Technical focus areas

  • AWS (core cloud platform)
  • RESTful API design and API-led architectures
  • Event-driven and asynchronous integration patterns
  • Distributed systems and microservices
  • Legacy and hybrid integration technologies, including:
  • SFTP-based file integrations
  • SOAP / Web Services
  • XML-based message formats and schemas
  • Infrastructure as Code and automated deployments
  • Cloud security, identity, and access management
  • Observability, monitoring, and operational readiness
  • Exposure to other cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, GCP) in customer-specific contexts

Qualifications

Required experience & skills

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Lead Architect, or Technical Lead
  • Strong ability to bridge business and technical perspectives
  • Experience leading and coordinating international delivery teams
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native and application architecture principles
  • Ability to read, review, and reason about application and infrastructure code, without being responsible for daily development
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with the ability to balance ideal architecture with real-world constraints

What sets you apart

  • Deep AWS-centric architectural expertise with a flexible, cloud-aware mindset
  • Trusted advisor to both business and engineering stakeholders
  • Confidence in leading architecture across distributed teams and organizations
  • Ability to modernize and integrate legacy solutions within cloud-based platforms
  • Consulting mindset focused on long-term customer value and sustainable solutions
