Senior Full-Stack Engineer (.NET)

The team & the role:

You will join an extension team of our client - SmartSurvey.

SmartSurvey is a UK-based provider of digital survey solutions. Our customers trust our user-friendly yet advanced online survey software to gather the information they need to make smart decisions. Whether you’re self-employed, work in the public sector, or manage projects for a multinational corporation we have features – including personalised customer support – that will suit your data collection and analysis needs.

Create customised surveys from scratch or use ready-made templates, then distribute to your own contact list or a consumer panel. Results are collected in real time so you can export data, share responses and learn from your respondents instantly.

As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer at SmartSurvey, you are not just here to deliver features, you are here to raise the engineering standard of the team.

You will combine deep hands-on development expertise with strong architectural judgement, balancing speed with rigour. You will own complex problems end-to-end, think critically about performance and scalability, and influence how we build systems across both back-end (.NET) and front-end (Vue.js).

Within your first 3-6 months, you will:

• Architect and deliver production-ready features across Vue.js and .NET 8+
• Debug and optimise SQL queries using execution plans and indexing strategies
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across API, database, and browser layers
• Improve code quality through structured, high-impact code reviews
• Introduce measurable improvements to testing, CI/CD, and observability
• Contribute to architectural decisions with clear reasoning and trade-off analysis
• Define and drive AI-powered improvements across the SDLC, including automating workflows using modern tooling such as MCP (Model Context Protocol)

Your contribution to something big:

• Own end-to-end technical delivery for features and architectural improvements
• Design, implement, and optimise backend services using C# and .NET 6–88–10
• Build maintainable, well-structured frontend components using Vue.js and TypeScript
• Debug performance issues at database, API, and browser levels
• Write and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Support and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Lead meaningful code reviews that raise engineering standards
• Champion new engineering standards and approaches by staying current with industry best practices, and elevate others by pairing with mid and senior developers during discovery phases to clearly define scope and technical specifications
• Translate product requirements into pragmatic, scalable implementation plans
• Proactively identify and reduce technical debt
• Own the definition and maintenance of AI-driven improvements, from identifying automation opportunities to implementing modern tooling (e.g. MCP) that streamlines the software development lifecycle

Skills & Experience must -haves:

• Significant professional software development experience
  
• Deep hands-on experience with C# and modern .NET
• Strong understanding of data structures and runtime behaviour
• Experience debugging and optimising SQL Server and PostgreSQL queries
• Strong frontend experience with Vue.js and TypeScript
• Experience owning production systems and resolving complex issues
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Confident use of AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.)Confident use of AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) with the ability to define and maintain AI-driven workflow improvements
• Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiences

Brownie points:

• Experience modernising legacy systems
• Familiarity with performance optimisation techniques
• Experience working in SaaS environments
• Mentoring or team leadership contributions
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools
• Exposure to Azure or AWS
• Experience integrating AI-powered features into products and automating SDLC workflows using tools such as MCP
