Mission

• Be a part of a cross-functional agile team or a QA practice team that promotes automation and quality engineering best practices across the domain.
• Work closely with developers, Product Owners and other stakeholders to ensure quality throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through to release.
• Take ownership of the product quality by designing, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving automated test solutions.
• Define and implement effective test strategies combining automated and manual testing, with a strong focus on automation wherever it brings the most value.
• Build and maintain automated test suites covering functional, integration, API, regression and end-to-end scenarios.
• Identify suitable areas for automation and continuously improve test coverage, reliability and execution time.
• Ensure that automated tests are stable, maintainable and integrated into the development and release process.
• Contribute to the definition of quality standards, automation approaches and testing best practices across teams.
• Partner with Product Owners and developers to ensure requirements are clear, testable and suitable for automation.
• Support continuous improvement by evaluating testing tools, frameworks and approaches and sharing QA automation expertise with the team.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated test cases for web and mobile applications.
• Develop automated UI and end-to-end tests using frameworks such as Playwright
• Implement and maintain API test automation using tools and frameworks such as RestAssured, Postman/Newman or similar.
• Create reusable test components, utilities and frameworks to improve automation scalability and maintainability.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support automated test execution as part of the release process.
• Analyze requirements and user stories and translate them into effective automated test scenarios.
• Design test strategies covering functional, integration, regression, API and end-to-end testing.
• Investigate test failures, identify root causes and work closely with developers to resolve issues.
• Monitor automated test results and continuously improve test stability, execution time and coverage.
• Perform exploratory and manual testing where automation is not the most effective approach.
• Ensure appropriate test data and environments are available for automated testing.
• Participate in grooming, planning and technical discussions, advocating for testability and automation from the early stages of development.
• Contribute to QA documentation, automation standards and knowledge sharing across the team.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders in English and German, where required.

Required Qualifications

• Solid hands-on experience in software test automation within agile development environments.
• Proven experience designing, implementing and maintaining automated test suites.
• Experience with at least one modern automation framework such as Playwright
• Hands-on experience with API testing and automation, preferably using Postman, RestAssured or similar tools.
• Good understanding of QA methodologies, test design techniques, defect lifecycle and agile software delivery principles.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build and deployment processes.
• Experience testing web and/or mobile applications across different platforms.
• Ability to analyze requirements and identify scenarios suitable for automation.
• Understanding of test automation principles, including maintainability, reusability, test stability and appropriate test coverage.
• Upper-intermediate or higher level of spoken and written English.
• Upper-intermediate or higher level of spoken and written German.

Nice to have

• Experience with Appium and mobile test automation for iOS/Android.
• Experience with Cucumber/BDD, TDD or other specification-by-example approaches.
• Experience with RestAssured, JMeter or similar automation/performance testing tools.
• Experience with Charles Proxy, Android Studio or Xcode.
• Experience working with Docker and cloud-based test environments.
• Programming experience in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or similar.
• Experience building or extending test automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of test reporting and observability tools.
• Experience with shift-left testing and integrating quality practices early in the development lifecycle.
